LONGMONT, Colo. (February 23, 2009) – Deuter, makers of innovative, high quality, and price-competitive packs with 110 years of internationally proven experience, are pleased to announce their official bluesign® membership. With Deuter’s membership, their products are designated as meeting strict international requirements regarding sustainability, health and safety (EHS). All bluesign® products guarantee the use of components and processes that are harmless to people and environmentally friendly. With this step, Deuter underlines their brand development with a proactive ecological commitment.

As bluesign® member, Deuter agree to deliver a maximum of sustainability and safety in all products. The entire manufacturing chain, from raw materials to chemical components to the final production, has to fulfill strict requirements. This also involves full supply chain transparency. bluesign® was founded in 2000 in Switzerland and quickly established itself within the industry as the pioneering standard for sustainability, health and safety. The criteria for membership include the use of toxic-free ingredients, the optimization of resource efficiency during production as well as occupational health and consumer safety.

According to Bernd Kullman, managing director for Deuter worldwide, “Our membership to bluesign® marks a very important step for us. With bluesign® the industry has reached a new level of ecological and health responsibility. And for Deuter, sustainability and social commitment are core elements of the brand philosophy. We are convinced that we can reduce the ecological impact of our production cycle with the professional support from bluesign®.”
