LONGMONT, Colo. (July 13, 2009) – Deuter, makers of innovative, high quality, and price competitive packs with over 100 years of internationally proven experience, announces the launch of the Spectro AC series for Spring 2010. The Spectro AC series will include five new packs targeted toward the hiker who appreciates lighter fabrications, exceptional fit, true ventilation, functional details and great durability. The company has also redesigned its ACT Lite packs with a new streamlined design that perfectly balances lightweight carrying comfort with great storage capacity for longer treks and mountaineering pursuits. The Spectro AC Series as well as other Deuter products will be highlighted at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in July 2009. Deuter’s 2010 packs will be available in outdoor and specialty stores in early spring 2010.

According to Keith Patterson, vice president of sales and marketing for Deuter USA, “Our retailers are seeing increasing customer demand for 25-35-liter packs. With the addition of the Spectro AC series, retailers now have a comfortable, functional, lightweight and durable pack in this size range at a very competitive price.”

Key packs from the Deuter 2010 lineup include:

SPECTRO AC SERIES

The Spectro AC Series is a new range of lightweight technical daypacks ranging in size from 24-38 liters featuring streamlined designs, yet built for comfort and durability.

The Spectro packs showcase Deuter’s new Aircomfort FlexLite System® which marries its ultra-flexible twin-frame construction and patented Aircomfort-System®.
The twin frame construction gives the Aircomfort-System® its lightweight properties while guaranteeing excellent flexibility and stability. By combining flexible lightweight steel with a flat profile body, it follows the movement of the carrier and transfers the load perfectly to the hip belt. The Aircomfort-System® is the first of its kind to be patented; laboratory-tested and still the only pack with three-way ventilation. Ingeniously simple, the pack’s suspension system is like a spring-loaded trampoline. A special mesh covering the frame creates the optimum space between the backpack and the wearer’s back. It distributes weight evenly and keeps the weight of the pack off the back — moist air can freely escape through the three-sided system, preventing heat buildup. Additional ventilation is assured via anatomically formed shoulder straps and sturdy waist belts with perforated foam and large-celled 3D AirMesh linings.

The Spectro AC packs feature: hydration compatibility, stuff-it front pocket; mesh diagonal side pockets compression straps; hiking poles and ice ace loops and sternum straps. No more rummaging around for your gear – the two-way zip on the front allows direct access to the entire pack even when the lid is closed. The Spectro AC packs, available in 24, 28SL, 32, 36SL and 38-liter sizes range in price from $129-$149 and weigh in at just 1050 grams (28SL model).

The women’s specific Spectro AC models, (28SL and 36SL) feature Deuter’s SL back system, streamlined designs, shorter torso and narrower shoulders. The packs are outfitted with a tapered shoulder strap harness, and offer a more slender shape and curve for a smaller frame. The shoulder straps are narrower, shorter and closer together to fit women better. The hip belts feature multi-laminate fins that are adjusted in their length and height to match the SL system and also have a softer surface padding. The conical, padded, formed hip belt wraps perfectly around the hips.

ACT LITE SERIES

Deuter’s ACT Lite series is updated in 2010 with new streamlined shape with lightweight carrying comfort yet excellent storage capacity. The ACT Lite packs are available in the 40+10, 50+10, 65+10 and women’s 45+10SL, 60+10SL, range in price from $169-189.

The ACT Lite design integrates curved aluminum stays to transfer loads directly to the hip belt. The compact multi-layer hip belt is ergonomically structured and features a soft 3D air mesh lining and PE reinforcements with quick and easy ‘pull-forward’ strap. For a perfect, individual fit, the VariQuick shoulder harness system allows the wearer to adjust for his/her back length while soft edge shoulder straps contoured the body. Deuter’s patented Aircontact-System® back ventilation uses breathable pads with technical hollow chamber foam. With movement, a pump effect circulates air through the cushions, channelling the air along the spine allowing warm air to escape and fresh air to cool down the user’s back. The result is: up to 15% less perspiration when compared to a standard backpack.

Key pack details: Top loader with dual buckle closure, stretch-woven front compartment, top lid pocket, valuables pocket, bottom-access compartment with internal, removable divider, ice axe/trekking pole loops, mesh side pockets, side compression and shoulder stabilizer straps, and hydration compatibility. The ACT Lite SL models give women a comfortable option, thanks to the narrower S-shaped shoulder straps with double ‘soft-edge’ trim and conically shaped hip fins.
