Deuter USA Announces Winter 2008 Snowsport Packs

Deuter continues to strengthen its alpine collection with innovative designs incorporating lightweight materials and thoughtful details for comfortably carrying loads in winter settings.

Deuter, makers of innovative, high quality, and price competitive packs with 100 years of internationally proven experience, announces the release of its winter 2008 collection. Deuter continues to strengthen its alpine collection with innovative designs incorporating lightweight materials, thoughtful details like rear entry zippers and paired with leading freeride skiers, snowboarders and mountaineers to bring the enthusiast the best products for carrying loads comfortably in colder alpine settings. These products will be highlighted at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market in January 2008 in Salt Lake City as well as the SIA Trade Show in Las Vegas. These packs will be available in outdoor and specialty stores beginning fall 2008.

Award-Winning Guide Packs Revamped
For Winter 2008, Deuter revamps its award-winning Guide packs with lightweight fabrics, Vari-Flex pivoting hip belts, women’s specific models and special features. These high performance alpine packs are designed for mountaineering; climbing and snowsports that require excellent load carrying ability, gear access, and flexibility. The Guide series includes: the Guide 30+SL, Guide 35+ and Guide 45+. The Guide packs utilize a low profile aluminium X- frame back, a height-adjustable lid, bottom compartment, side access zipper, lid pocket, snow skirt, combination ski and compression strap system, crampon attachment straps, gear and rope loops, 2 or 3-liter hydration compatible, and ice axe loops. All of the Guide packs feature Deuter’s Alpine Back System paired with its new Vari-Flex hip belt. The Vari-Flex hip belt allows a pivoting motion in the hip belt to better move with the body. This patent-pending system, combining the ventilated back and pivoting hip belt is the first of its kind and offers superior ventilation. The Guide 30+SL, Guide 35+ and 45+ retail for $125, $129 and $139.


Updated Cruise 26SL and Cruise 30 Feature Easy-Access Rear Panels
The updated Cruise 26SL(26 liter capacity/1640 cubic inches), and Cruise 30 (30 liter capacity/1840 cubic inches), $125 and $129, are the perfect small ski/snowboard touring packs. These packs utilize the Alpine Back System, a proven performer in stability and breathability. The narrow body of the Cruise 26SL and Cruise 30 and new easy access zippered rear panel make it a great easy-to-use companion in the backcountry. Featuring a single buckle top lid with pocket, padded hip belt with built-in zip pocket and gear loop, hydration capability, internal shovel pocket, probe pocket, ice axe loop, ski attachment straps, front snowboard attachment straps, side mesh pockets, and S.O.S patch. Weight 2 lbs. 12 oz. Cruise 26 SL, 2 lbs. 15 oz. Cruise 30.

NEW S Lite 600 For Weight-Conscious Nordic and Randonee Racers
The S Lite 600, $69, is a lightweight pack designed for Nordic and randonee racers with 1200 cubic inches of capacity, hydration capability and easy access front zipper. The pack features zippered waist bellow pockets, large mesh pockets and compression straps. Strapping system allows for skis to be placed on/taken off pack without removing the pack. It weighs just 1 pound 5 ounces and carries up to 15 pounds.

Introducing the Eric Hjorleifson Signature Pack Series
Big mountain skier Eric Hjorleifson partnered with Deuter to design his own signature packs that incorporate all the performance elements freeride skiers demand. Their unique mono-color look mimics the famous Deuter Tauren mountaineering packs from the 1940’s yet feature all the latest innovations and Deuter’s patented Alpine ventilation system. The EH packs include the EH Guide and EH Edge.

The EH Guide, $159 is designed for high performance alpine pursuits that require excellent load carrying ability, gear access, and flexibility. The 30-liter capacity EH Guide utilizes a low profile removable aluminium X- frame Alpine back system, smooth panels for zero snow accumulation, flexible hip belt, durable construction throughout, signal whistle on sternum strap, tool pockets for shovel and probe equipment, a height-adjustable lid, lid pocket, snow skirt, combination oversize ski and compression strap system, 2 or 3-liter hydration compatible, and ice axe loops. The Guide pack utilizes Deuter’s Alpine Back System. This system utilizes two padded foam stripes that provide carrying stability and comfort with “chimney” effect ventilation between the stripes.

The EH Edge (25 liter capacity/1360 cubic inches), $139, is designed specifically as a great snowsport daypack. The EH Edge 25-liter capacity holds skis, or snowboards; plus a shovel, ice axes, and helmet. The pack features flexible hip belt, compression straps, plush-lined goggle and sunglass pocket, tool pocket for shovel and probe, hip belt gear loops, hip belt pocket, and retro leather patches.
