PARK CITY, UTAH – Transworld Business, the leading action boardsports industry pub, announced Dogfunk.com as the winner of Online Retailer of the Year for its first annual Business Industry and Retail Awards. The award was by voted on by more than 2,500 retailers and industry insiders who weighed in on which of their retail partners did the most in 2009 to help support their company’s growth, goals, and continued success. Dogfunk stood out as the most exceptional etailer in 2009.
“2009 was the year Dogfunk really expanded our customer community’s power, giving them the ability to post product reviews, pictures, tips, opinions, and gear lists as well as ask and answer questions from other community members,†said Karen Craig, Director of Merchandising at Dogfunk.com. “It was not what most of the industry was used to, but it was a success because of our vendor and rep support. Because they push the boundaries of their products and business models, they seem to appreciate that we do the same from a retail perspective.â€
The first annual TransWorld Business Retail & Industry Awards were created to distinguish the surf, skate, and snow shops, sales reps, and manufacturers that have done the most this year for the action-sports industry by creatively building demand and amazing products.
The winners were selected using the results of a two-month survey conducted in two parts, VIP, and People’s Choice. VIP votes were by invite only and were weighted at 70 percent of the final results. The People’s Choice nominations were conducted on Transworldbusiness.com and were weighted at 30 percent. Think of it as the Electoral College and the popular vote, and just like our nation’s elections, the votes were rigorously patrolled to ensure only one vote was cast per person. Hundreds of votes were cast in each category.
Dogfunk.com focuses on working with the strongest brands who represent the core evolution of snowboarding, as well as new, small brands who continue to bring fresh and exciting technology to this culture, Craig said. “We work hard to give our shoppers a place to hang out, learn, research, and actually experience the gear that we sell. Our entire team here is so thrilled that their passion is recognized by the people we work with.â€
