The Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC) has a multitude of ‘must-attend’ events scheduled for the upcoming Outdoor Retailer Trade Show in Salt Lake City, Utah. These events will be educational, relaxing, and informative and will provide non-members with an overview of OIWC benefits. The mission of the OIWC is to equip women to achieve success. All events are open to the industry.
Professional Development Seminars – Friday, January 26, 3-7pm Salt Palace Rm 355C
The OIWC’s Professional Development Seminars are back again. Don’t miss your chance to learn how to Get The Right People on the Right Team in a series of FREE seminars conducted by knowledgeable and dynamic presenters, including last year’s speaker Pollyanna Pixton. Outdoor professionals at any stage of their careers can benefit from these educational and lively presentations. Seminars will be located in the Salt Palace and OIWC will provide snacks and drinks.
Backcountry Betties – brought to you by Manzella and BrandAmp, Friday, January 26, 9am-4pm; Backcountry Base Camp
OIWC is hosting this popular pre-OR series of FREE women’s only clinics to help women of all ability-levels increase their enjoyment of winter outdoor sports. The two-hour seminars include: Basic Backcountry Skills, Backcountry Touring, Inbounds Telemark Skiing Clinic, and Skate Ski Instruction. Register on-site on a first-come, first-served basis.
Scavenge-HER Hunt, January 27-30; Salt Palace
Organized by womenspecific.com, show attendees will scour the floor for women-specific products tagged with their distinctive Lupine leaf logo. Once an individual spots a leaf, he or she will fill out a contest form and slip it into the treasure chest at that booth, which enters them to win the product. Names will be drawn and winners announced by womenspecific.com following OR. Participating manufacturers donate $100 per item with the proceeds benefiting OIWC. OIWC Gathering – Sunday, January 28, 6-9pm; Abravanel Hall (next to Salt Palace)
Network, enjoy appetizers and drinks, and see the presentation of the 2007 Pioneering Woman Award as well as a slide show, talk and insights on leadership by JanSport’s Skip Yowell, author of the soon-to-be-released book The Hippie Guide to Climbing the Corporate Ladder. Plus, bid on great outdoor gear in a silent auction.
