Dreanna Bane Joins Gramicci as Design Director
–Veteran of Lucky Brand to lead design group of the organic and edgy outdoor sportswear brand
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. (12/8/08)—Dreanna Bane has been named design director for Gramicci, the rapidly growing manufacturer of durable, yet uniquely original, outdoor lifestyle apparel.
In her role, the fashion industry veteran will lead the Agoura Hills-based company’s design lab in efforts to win over an even greater customer following for Gramicci’s portfolio of ‘Never the Norm’ clothing. As examples of the design lab’s recent innovations, in the past three years, the 26-year-old brand has extended its product offering to include the Greenicci collection of all-organic or recycled sportswear, and the new Gramicci Urban Biking product. The Urban Biking line immediately hit upon a trend and need in the market among the growing number of bicycle riders who desire functional clothing that meets demands for current style with designs that can be worn to work or to a restaurant.
Bane, 46, joins the team with over 17 years of management, design and product development expertise. Most recently, she was a freelance designer launching new lines and collections for such companies as A Gold E, Caravan Fashion Enterprises and RYS, Inc..
Prior to that, she was a designer/merchandiser for Lucky Brand Dungarees and at Safety Clothing Co., where she specialized in denim as well as vintage-inspired knits. She began her career in 1991 at Guess! Inc.
Marty Weening, president of Gramicci, said Bane brings considerable experience along with a knowledge and understanding of the Gramicci consumer and the era that gave Gramicci its roots. “We are very pleased to have Dreanna joining us. She is a complete designer, who shares our ambition to be astute students of the consumer,†he commented. “Dreanna also has the skill set for designing directly to what that consumer is living.â€
A resident of Conjeo Valley, Ca., Bane is a graduate of the Otis Art Institute of Parson’s School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Fashion Design.
