LONDON (April 18, 2012) – Drift, the world’s most innovative action sports technology company, welcomes a lot of impressive international talent to its list of athletes who will represent the brand this year and beyond.
Drift’s world-class team for 2012 includes ambassadors from across the action sports fraternity including skateboarding legend Chad Dickson: a pro street skater hailing from Canada. About to return from a winter tour in Barcelona with the DC team, Drift is looking forward to some fresh edits.
Drift introduces rising British flatland BMX star Matti Hemmings to the team, who is constantly pushing the boundaries of the sport. He is the sole organizer of the UK Flatland BMX Championships in 2011, and is now involved with the opening ceremony for the 2012 Olympic games in London.
Drift felt the team wouldn’t be complete without a legend in the ranks and he came in the form of Cedric Gracia. Andorran-based Gracia is a world-renowned downhill mountain biker, with a character to match his achievements, which include several world championship medals and winner of the Red bull Rampage free ride competition.
Also joining the squad is Jon Cheever; member of the US Snowboarding Cross (SBX) team and has been ranked as one of the top three SBX competitors in the world, he continues to build an impressive competitive resume.
British Superbikes superstar Peter Hickman will also be part of the team. After getting on his first bike at 12-years-old, he has never looked back, and now has been invited to be part of the MSS Kawasaki Team for the 2012 season.
FIA Formula 2 racing driver Mihai Marinsecu will also be representing Drift on the circuit this season. Romanian-born Marinescu, has had an exciting career so far and at only 21-years-old he has landed four consecutive national titles, as well as first place at the European Championship races.
“Drift is thrilled to welcome each of these talented athletes and teams to the Drift family,” says Drift Co-founder, Robin Parker. “We are confident that each individual and team will be perfect ambassadors not only for Drift, but also for each sport they represent.”
