Bozeman, Mont. — Duckworth, the only source-verified wool apparel company in the world growing, spinning, knitting, and sewing its fabrics 100 percent in the USA, is proud to announce one of its founders and its primary wool supplier John Helle has been named an “Unsung Hero” by Reader’s Digest.

In the article titled “Extraordinary America: 13 Unsung Heroes Who Will Restore Your Faith in Our Country” Reader’s Digest recognized that Duckworth and John Helle are recharging the American wool industry by creating all their wool garments in the USA. As a fourth generation sheep rancher, John Helle was praised for maintaining an American way of life in the Rocky Mountains.

Duckworth is taking thousands of miles out of the global supply chain by growing its own merino wool on the Helle Ranch in Montana and managing the entire production of clothing in the United States. Reader’s digest recognized how important this is, as most wool garments typically travel across the globe before they arrive in retail stores.

Duckworth’s Helle Rambouillet Merino wool is some of the best wool in the world. Raised on open range mountain pastures at 9,500 feet, the specific conditions of the Montana Rockies produce the some of the world’s best wool. Dry, hot summers and freezing winters shape a soft, durable fiber with exceptional loft and breathability. In addition to the wool’s unique fiber profile, Duckworth has developed a patent-pending chemical free shrink resist process and has also introduced VaporWool, a summer weight fabric that feels cool to the touch.

Because of these better business practices, Reader’s Digest called John Helle “The good shepherd” and recognized him as an unsung American hero.
