John Scott, Executive Vice-President of Life-Link Backcountry Travel, the North American distributor of Dynafit backcountry ski equipment, announced that Dynafit will sponsor the United States Ski Mountaineering Team for 2006.
The USSMA previously announced team, will train by competing in the 2006 Mountain Hardwear/Life-Link/Dynafit Randonnee Rally Race Series, and will compete in the World Ski Mountaineering Championships which will be held in Cuneo, Italy February 27 through March 5, 2006.
“We want the American team to be on equal footing, from an equipment standpoint, with the best teams in the world. That means they have to be on Dynafit bindings, as every other competitor in the race will be, and having Dynafit boots and skis will mean they will race on the lightest boot, binding and ski combination available,” said Scott.
The team, which consists of 4 men and 3 women was chosen by the United States Ski Mountaineering Association (USSMA) based on their standings in the 2005 Mountain Hardwear/Life-Link/Dynafit Randonnee Rally Race Series.
“This will be the first time that American competitors will be competing as a team in the World Championships and we want to give them every opportunity to represent the United States to the best of their ability as they compete with the European athletes who have proven themselves to be the best in the world,” stated Scott.
