Starting in 2012, the world’s only full-time full-line backcountry brand gears up for summer.
(Boulder, Co) – A new era is dawning for Dynafit. Under the heading of Speed Mountaineering, Dynafit will now promote mountain ingenuity within its strategic targets of Alpine Running and Alpine Biking. Dealers, partners and athletes have been long anticipating this launch, and now they can see Dynafit’s core values of speed, lightness, technology and performance very much at the heart of the summer collection.
The idea originated with the athletes – backcountry skiers and ski mountaineers climb and ski snow-covered mountains in the winter. In summer months, they scale the same peaks by bike, by foot – or both. Some of the world’s best alpine runners are also the world’s best ski mountaineers. The goal is to reach the summit quickly, using the most direct path with the least amount of energy. Sometimes even a degree of climbing is involved. Dynafit’s athletes, textile engineers and designers have developed the collection to meet these demands, using pared-down alpine designs and ultra-light, high-tech materials. No other brand can claim the same full-time focus on the backcountry, so the extension into summer is a natural one.
And consistent with all Dynafit product launches, this line was developed with the Dynafit athlete team, all of whom in this case are also Dynafit employees. The pinnacle test was coined “X4†– four summits, four countries, in four days. This expedition was the climax of the product testing process, and resulted in many refinements to perfect the product line.
“The new summer line embodies Dynafit’s Speed Up energy with a laser focus on modularity, quick transitions and speed ascents in alpine summer environments†claims Chris Sword, President of Dynafit North America. “We have created a line of clothing, equipment, and footwear designed to take you farther, deeper, and higher into your summer’s adventuresâ€.
Officially launched at an international event this month at the Olympic Stadium in Garmisch Germany, the line will be distributed in North America through a very targeted set of retail partners.
The slogan â€less is more†is an apt description for the clothing and footwear, which boasts a wide variety of revolutionary technical features. The materials and finishing are very much the focal point of the collection. For example, Dynafit uses a specific “body mapping†technique to adapt the material it needs uses to the individual areas of the body, resulting in a revolutionary line of clothing and footwear.
An athlete-driven brand from the beginning, Dynafit is committed to designing faster, stronger, and lighter gear for ambitious backcountry athletes who never compromise. Development of each product is pursued in concert with a select team of athletes, and no product decisions are made without clear go-ahead from the team.
Based in Munich Germany with North American Headquarters in Boulder Colorado, Dynafit arrives on top first with the biggest smiles, with plenty of power left for the ultimate ride down. The highest mountains and most extreme conditions require both the lightest and most bomber gear in the world – no compromises. That is why Dynafit invests in the world’s top athletes, designs, and technology.
