As part of their continuing efforts to give back to the community, the staff at Eagle Creek wrapped another successful Service Day on April 28, 2016. Partnering with the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy to work on and around the valuable watershed near San Diego, CA. The conservancy offers a Nature Center, multiple hiking trails that explore the coastline and hills behind, tours, education for kids and adults, and unique events like hiking and craft beer tasting.

Braving snake season, Eagle Creek staff happily moved around the Nursery and throughout the trail system, to restore the grounds and make it more pleasant for visitors and hikers. Volunteers removed graffiti, removed non-native plants from the Rios trail area, picked up trash, transplanted young native plants and planted seeds in the nursery’s new native plant workspace.
The San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy protects and restores the resources of San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve, its watershed, and related ecosystems for the benefit of current and future generations. The conservancy promotes ecological literacy and environmental responsibility through engagement and community education. The conservancy also conducts scientific research to advance restoration planning and conservation science.
“Service Day is always rewarding,” said Lisa Buco, Marketing Director at Eagle Creek. “The Eagle Creek team understands the importance of our environment and we look forward to giving back. Helping our community gives us a sense of pride and accomplishment, and we know that our work will be enjoyed by many locals and visitors for years to come. It’s an honor to be involved.”

“We are grateful that Eagle Creek gives back to their local community,” said Joe DeWolf, Conservancy Community Restoration Specialist. “With nearly 1,000 acres to monitor, it’s awesome to have volunteers play a key role to improve native plant communities at San Elijo Lagoon.
Eagle Creek is a proud sponsor of the semi-annual Service Day and applauds the commitment and generosity of their employees.
