Eastern Mountain Sports raised more than $16,000 for the Access Fund during the retailer’s Upgrade Your Gear sale held last month, April 20-22.
Access Fund Corporate Partner Eastern Mountain Sports split one percent of sale’s revenue equally between the Access Fund and the Conservation Alliance. Each of the 67 Eastern Mountain Sports stores participated in the promotion, raising a total of $32,387.
Eastern Mountain Sports has been an Access Fund partner since 1993 and has always been committed to keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment.
Steve Matous, Executive Director of the Access comments, “Eastern Mountain Sports was founded by climbers in the Northeast, an area that sees a lot of access issues. They understand firsthand the important role the Access Fund plays on a local and national level. This contribution not only helps the Access Fund keep climbing in the Northeast open, it helps assure that our climbing resources around the country are protected for us and future generations.â€
“As we celebrate 40 years of a strong climbing heritage at Eastern Mountain Sports, we are focused on maintaining the many beautiful climbing areas in the Northeast,†said Eastern Mountain Sports President and CEO Will Manzer. “We are thrilled to be able to make this contribution to the Access Fund and continue to support what is so important to us and our customers.â€
On behalf of climbers across the country, the Access Fund would like to thank Eastern Mountain Sports for their significant contribution and for engaging their members in the importance of taking care of the places they play.
