EASTERN MOUNTAIN SPORTS STRENGTHENS SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM IN PREPARATION FOR FUTURE GROWTH

Bob Mayerson Named President, COO and CFO;

Ted Manning Appointed Exec. V.P. for Merchandising/Retail Marketing and Scott Barrett Becomes V.P. Ecommerce/Strategic Business

PETERBOROUGH, N.H. (March 2, 2010) – Having just experienced one of the best years in the company’s history, Eastern Mountain Sports today announced three pivotal changes in its management team led by CEO Will Manzer. Bob Mayerson has been named president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Ted Manning has been appointed executive vice president for merchandising and retail marketing, and Scott Barrett will assume the role of vice president, ecommerce/strategic business development. Manzer will continue to lead the company, working closely with this senior team.

“It gives me enormous satisfaction and an overwhelming sense of confidence knowing that Bob, Ted and Scott will be by my side as we continue to make Eastern Mountain Sports the best-in-class outfitting destination for our customers,” said Manzer. “The year ahead will bring new challenges, which we will meet with the same determination, integrity and focus. This is the right team to chart that course.”

Mayerson, who has been with Eastern Mountain Sports for more than three years, will expand his operating role to focus on the company’s selling and operating core competencies. He has over 25 years in operations, retail and financial management experience, having held key executive positions at both Staples and PepsiCo.

Manning, who has been at Eastern Mountain Sports for more than 17 years, beginning as a sales associate, will continue to lead the merchandising teams at Eastern Mountain Sports. Additionally, Manning will now bring his unique style and voice to the company’s retail marketing initiatives.

Barrett, who led the marketing teams at Eastern Mountain Sports for over five years, will be responsible for all online ecommerce and strategic business development. “By appointing Scott to this position, we are putting a stake in the ground, signifying our commitment to ensuring that Eastern Mountain Sports emerges as a leader in multi-channel retailing,” Manzer noted. Prior to joining the company, Barrett held key marketing positions at Major League Baseball, PepsiCo and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide.

“We did more than survive in 2009; we thrived under what proved to be dire economic circumstances,” continued Manzer. “I am especially proud of our entire team for meeting those challenges, delivering outstanding results and taking care of our customers more capably than ever before. The changes we are announcing today leverage the incredible in-house commitment, passion and expertise of my colleagues, each of whom will play a critical role in developing the blueprint for our future growth.”
