Pamplona, Spain – April 8, 2011 – El Naturalista – the Spanish-based manufacturer of eco-friendly, fashionable footwear and accessories – announced a campaign to assist those affected by the March 11, 2011 earthquake in Japan. From March 31 to April 20, 2011, El Naturalista will donate 60% of the sales at their online shop from their Japanese inspired collections to emergency relief in Japan. The collections include Yugen, which evokes the equilibrium of the Japanese Zen gardens; Ikebama, which brings us closer to the beauty of nature through the practice of flower arrangement; and Makisu inspired by the texture of the bamboo mats used to roll sushi.
“Inspired by the Japanese proverb ‘A trip of thousands of years begins with a single step’, El Naturalista encourages all to visit our online shop to take a single step in your journey to create a more human and caring world,†said General Manager Pablo de la Peña.
In the wake of this disaster, El Naturalista’s Department of Corporate Social Responsibility is partnering with Koji Tanemoto, El Naturalista’s agent in Japan, and all the members of El Naturalista’s team in Japan to ensure that the donations provided by El Naturalista’s online campaign will be used to purchase food, water and supplies for those most affected in the northeast of the country.
This campaign is part of El Naturalista’s Atauchi Project. Since 2004, El Naturalista has designated a share of the profits from every shoe sold to Project Atauchi to fund humanitarian projects in Peru, Tanzania and Haiti.
