Elan Drops Early Release for Ripstick 106 and 96 Black Edition with QuadRod

Begunje, Slovenia (Jan. 19, 2021) – Elan, handcrafted skis 100% made in the Slovenian Alps for over 75 years, unleashes a limited early release of the new Ripstick 106 and 96 Black Edition skis with QuadRod. The award-winning chassis gains even more muscle, power and performance with this sleek, all-black carbon upgrade.

Elan introduced “Black Edition” skis in 2018 and has strategically been applying its state-of-the-art construction to the brand’s leading models, such as the new Ripstick 106 and 96. For the 2021/2022 collection, Elan has an even bolder Black Edition recipe with QuadRod, a lightweight reinforcement debuting in the new Ripstick 106 and 96 Black Edition.

QuadRod is a four carbon rod reinforcement embedded in the core of the ski delivering a lightweight, powerful rebound. Beginning with the skis’ Tubelight woodcore, carbon rods inserted along the perimeter of the skis, the QuadRod adds an additional two carbon rods, which are aligned but not connected, to the forebody and tail of the ski. The additional carbon rods give the ski more horsepower and strength with the flex desired for demanding performance.

In addition to QuadRod, the Black Edition Ripstick 106 and 96 is constructed with Elan’s new Amphibio Carbon Line Technology, an asymmetrical design strategically infusing carbon reinforcement over the inside edges of the skis, for more power and stability at high speeds during the turn. They also feature the limited edition, sleek, all-black graphics. The Black Edition Ripsticks weigh in around 100 grams more than the in-line Ripsticks.
