Snowboard Event Winners Took Home $10,000 in Prizes Across Four Categories
NEDERLAND, Colo., April 7, 2017 – Eldora Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the results of the inaugural Ditchslap Banked Slalom Presented by 10 Barrel Brewing Co. Jake Black from Breckenridge and Ashley Wendorf, also from Breckenridge, took first place in the men’s and women’s 18-34 divisions, respectively. Mike Day from Alma and Jodi Koning from Breckenridge took first in the men’s and women’s 35+ divisions, respectively.
The snowboard-only, single-day event is open to riders of all ages who compete on Eldora’s classic Corkscrew run, known among locals as The Trick Ditch. The Ditchslap Banked Slalom is a luge-like course with gates flanked by high berms that propel riders back and forth as they gain momentum and speed.
Competitors completed two timed runs where the fastest combined times determined the winners. In the men’s 18-34 division, Black’s time of 1:11:92 put him in the lead ahead of Everett Simmons, who competed the course in a time of 1:15:06 followed by third-place finisher Jacob Carey from Conifer, with a time of 1:18:46.For the women’s 18-34 division, Wendorf achieved a
For the women’s 18-34 division, Wendorf achieved a first place finish with a time of 1:23:37 followed by Brittany Ashida from Greeley, with a time of 1:24:26, and Brie Pepe from Boulder took third with a time of 1:25:28.
Top first, second and third finishers in the men’s and women’s 35+ divisions were Day with a combined finish time of 1:14:84, Everett McEwan of Morrison with a time of 1:16:08, and Alex Pashley from Steamboat Springs who finished in 1:16:63.
On the women’s side of 35+, Koning took first with a time of 1:36:12, Kristin Turner from Black Hawk paced second with a time of 1:45:01 and Anette Rhodin from Boulder placed third with a time of 1:49:89.
