Avon, Colo. May 15 2019 — Wildsyde’s new vintage-inspired electric cruiser bikes are the perfect lifestyle bike, ideal for pedaling to work, the bar, the game, the beach, or your friend’s place. Featuring retro styling with the look of an old motorcycle and built with cutting-edge technology, Wildsyde’s pedal-assist eCruisersTM let you raise your cool factor, not your body temp.
The Beast is one of three Wildsyde models to be introduced to the U.S. market this month. It is fitted with a 36v/13aAh Samsung battery and a 500Wh Bafang rear drive motor to keep riders moving in the right direction quickly and efficiently. The long-lasting battery is engineered to propel riders for a distance of 25 to 35 miles, depending on body weight, terrain, wind resistance, speed, and human effort. Originally designed for snow, sand and the beach, the 26”x 4” tires are adventure ready to tackle whatever the urban jungle can throw at you.
As a Class 1 electric bike, the Beast’s 500 watt power-plant quickly and effortlessly whisks riders up to a speed of 20 mph. With five power zones and a 7 speed Shimano mechanical shifter, this pedal-assist bicycle allows you to put as much or as little effort into your ride as your body desires. E-bikes come equipped with a governor that limits their top speed (keeping them bike path-legal) so while you get where you’re going quicker, you can still enjoy the ride and being outdoors.
Why an electric bike? Wildsyde’s new eCruisers are a lifestyle bike, great for recreational use and outdoor adventure, and they are also an affordable, eco-friendly (and sweat-free) commuter option. E-bikes promise to let riders go farther, faster, tackle hills with greater ease, and ride more, regardless of age or physical ability. They offer a new mode of transport for people who might find barriers to traditional human-powered bikes.
According to the market research firm NPD, e-bikes are the fastest growing category in bikes, totaling $77.1 million in 2017, up 91 percent over the previous year. A study of e-bikers conducted by the National Institute for Transportation and Communities (NITC) found that 59% of respondents rode their standard bikes weekly or daily prior to getting an e-bike, and subsequently 91% of those same riders reported riding weekly or daily on their e-bikes.
The NITC researchers also found that many of the trips taken on e-bikes replace trips that would otherwise have been taken by car, suggesting that e-bikes also have the potential to reduce emissions and traffic congestion in communities. In fact, nearly 65% of respondents said one of the main reasons they purchased an e-bike was to reduce car trips.
“At Wildsyde, we are avid outdoor enthusiasts who sometimes like to have an easy cruise around town, instead of grinding up the backside of a mountain. Wildsyde bikes are more a lifestyle bike.” explains Paul Hields, Wildsyde owner and founder.
With 25+ years in the active sports market, he knows how to design (and use) great products. Hields has been pedaling since he was a kid. His passion has evolved throughout his life, from mountain biking to road biking, and now e-biking around his hometown of Vail, Colorado. Wildsyde e-Cruisers will be sold at specialty bike retailers nationwide.
“We are embarking on an expedition that opens our minds to the simpler things in life,” he says. “We ride hard, ride fast, and ride with purpose. We understand that everyday life can be taxing, so the Wildsyde team is focusing its energy on creating new experiences and memories. We choose to opt outside, and spend time with our family, friends, and loved ones. We travel, explore, take on new challenges, and aim to shake up the game. Wherever your travels and adventures take you, we want to be a part of the journey.”
About Wildsyde: New Vintage e-Cruisers @ www.Wildsyde.com
Paul Hields, the President and Owner of Sportube hard cases for winter sports equipment, was inspired to found Wildsyde in Vail, Colorado, when his wife of 25 years, Margo, was facing health problems that made regular road and mountain biking a challenge. E-bikes offered a unique solution for cruising along the bike path, commuting to work, running errands, or meeting up with friends—all while leaving the car at home. Wildsyde’s line of vintage-inspired eCruisers have been designed and tested with adventure and practicality at their core. Introduced to the U.S. market in spring of 2019.
