For 2010, the major story from Mountainsmith, a 30 year pioneer in the outdoor industry, is a complete new line-up of technical adult backpacks that utilize 100% PET recycled fabric. Bottom line, these new packs out-perform their price tag. Advanced load dispersion and abuse-resistant construction are partnered with simple, clean lines at a level of sophistication usually only found on more expensive packs. Mountainsmith’s new All Terrain collection covers day trips to extended expeditions. The look of the line is defined by its light grey expandable front panels and signature Mountainsmith yellow cords, bungee, and safety whistles. The offering consists of six men’s, three women’s backpacks as well as two extended day packs. There are also two junior packs made from non-recycled fabric. To see the whole collection, visit Mountainsmith at their Outdoor Retailer Booth # 19015.

Convenience…A new feature for 2010 is Mountainsmith’s SlingShot system that converts the top lids into lumbar or shoulder sling carries. Expandable front panels, waistbelt stash pockets, QuickZip side panel access, and side mesh bottle pockets are all easy to get at. Top lid lash points, reinforced quick-attach loops, and bottom panel compression straps complete the convenience package.

Sport-Specific Features…Several of the new packs adapt to winter sports with front panel snowboard and snowshoe carry along with diagonal and A-frame ski carry. Climbers will enjoy the top panel rope carry compression strap, dual ice axe loops, and streamlined profile. Backpackers will find the trekking pole mounts, hydration sleeve, map pocket, and separate sleeping bag compartment with internal dividers convenient for organizing all of their gear. The camera case carry loops on the shoulder straps will keep cameras handy for catching memories of any activity. Removable safety whistles are one of the ten key essentials for any outdoor activity.
