SAN DIEGO (September 28, 2011)— ElliptiGO, the creator of the world’s first elliptical bike, today announced the availability of a limited number of pink ElliptiGO® 8C and 3C models in support of the fight against breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is October and ElliptiGO® has committed to donating 5% of the MSRP of each pink ElliptiGO® purchased to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF). By the end of 2011, ElliptiGO will have donated at least $10,000 towards helping BCRF achieve their goal of prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.

“We know from our customer feedback that many women wish a pink bike were available,” said Brent Teal, co-founder and co-president of ElliptiGO. “Rather than just offering pink as another color option for the ElliptiGO®, we’d prefer to use this as an opportunity to partner with an outstanding organization like BCRF and help generate funds for a meaningful cause.”

“Partnering with Elliptigo to promote the importance of exercise was a natural synergy and underscores The Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s mission to fund innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide. In fact, BCRF funds a research project that shows the negative relationship between a healthy lifestyle and breast cancer risk,” said Myra Biblowit, BCRF President.

ElliptiGO chose The Breast Cancer Research Foundation as the beneficiary of their pink bike sales because BCRF has received a 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator for the 9th consecutive year and is the only breast cancer organization to hold an A+ from the American Institute of Philanthropy. With exceptionally low administrative costs, BCRF continues to be one of the most efficient organizations in the country. Currently, over 90 cents of every dollar donated goes to breast cancer research and awareness programs.

“We did a lot of research before selecting BCRF as our partner and we are thrilled to have the sales of these pink bikes make a difference in the fight against breast cancer,” said Bryan Pate, ElliptiGO co-founder and co-president. “Even though we are a small company, we recognize the importance of giving back and doing our part to support important efforts. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women and we want to help find the cure that will ensure that no mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend or loved one ever leaves this world early because of breast cancer.”

By combining the best elements of cycling with the natural strides of the running motion, the ElliptiGO® delivers a high-performance, low-impact workout for all active adults, from casual exercisers to cross-training athletes. “But the ElliptiGO® is not just a bike,” said Bryce Whiting, VP of Sales for ElliptiGO. “It’s a product that has the ability to positively impact overall health, wellness and quality of life. With the sale of these pink ElliptiGOs, we have the opportunity to positively affect both the health of the person who rides the bike, as well as contribute to the future health of all women through funding for breast cancer research.”
