Denver, CO— June 4, 2013 — FIRST DESCENTS, a Denver-based non-profit organization providing free outdoor adventure therapy for young adults with cancer is pleased to be the beneficiary of fundraising efforts by the Epic Shore to Shore Race on Flathead Lake in Northwest Montana. Surrounded by the rugged peaks of the Mission Range and the turquoise blue waters of Flathead Lake, the Epic Shore to Shore race is open to all paddlesports enthusiasts.

Held Saturday, August 10th, 2013, the Epic Shore to Shore Race will feature a 26-mile race down the length of Flathead Lake for teams or solo paddlers, a 10-mile solo race, a five mile solo race and a fast-paced 4×2 relay for teams. Go here to see a map of each race course. Racers in the Epic 26-mile event will launch in Polson, at the south end of Flathead Lake. Racers in all other events will begin and end at the North Flathead Lake Yacht Club. This way, spectators can view the beginning and end of each race from one location.
“We are a local group of outdoor enthusiasts who have a passion for paddling. We wanted to put together an event in our own backyard that would be a fun challenge for all levels of paddlers,” said event organizer Chuck Ludden. “We expect to have a lot of participants from outside the area. So we want to introduce them to the inspiration that can be found at flathead lake and through raising money for First Descents.”

Participants can register on the Epic Shore to Shore website, and follow race information on the event Facebook page. Registration includes a T-shirt for each competitor, a free drink and a meal ticket. Registrations will be accepted until one week prior to the race.
Solo entry for Epic/26 miles = $75
Solo for Intermediate/10 miles = $50
Solo for Recreation/5 miles = $50
