Hoji Joins Dynafit on Mera Peak (6,478M) Expedition

Boulder Colorado, July 2012 – Eric Hjorliefson and his Dynafit teammates will explore the snows of Nepal this August. In July of 2012, Eric Hjorleifson signed a long term contract with Dynafit, the world’s only full-line and full-time backcountry brand. He is a core member of the team, acting not only as a human-powered freeride athlete, but also as a boot and binding development consultant. This August and September “Hoji” and expedition leader Benedikt Boehm (Dynafit’s international Brand Manager) will embark on a ski expedition to Mera Peak in the heart of the Sagarmatha region of Nepal.

Situated in the Khumbu (Everest) Valley, Mera Peak offers a deep post-monsoonal snow pack ideal for product testing Dynafit’s new products. Hjorliefson’s new hybrid title allows for this perfect storm of gear and skiing. New products will be tested, discussed, and no-doubt “modified” with help from International product manager Schorsch “the Crusher” Nickaes. Hoji will also be tutored on the arts of high-elevation skiing by speed ski mountaineers Benedikt Böhm and Sebastian Haag.

Benedikt “Superhero” Boehm, Dynafit’s International Business Unit Manager recently stated, “This is a monumental expedition for the Dynafit family. We love mixing business with pleasure at 6,000+ meters, and having Hoji along for the ride will help amplify the testing of some amazing new developments, as well as strengthen our athlete team for future high-elevation first descents”.

The team will depart for Nepal on Aug 19th with a scheduled summit in early September. Joining the Mera Peak ski expedition is Jim Lamancusa, North America’s Director of Sales and Marketing, and cameraman Greg “2-Mill” Hill.

“The buzz of alpine skiing is fading for many and Hoji is the gateway to the backcountry. Eric embodies the perfect ratio of freeride and athleticism to complete the perfect Dynafit skier”, claims Jim Lamancusa, Hoji’s tent mate.

An athlete-driven brand from the beginning, Dynafit is committed to designing faster, stronger, and lighter gear for ambitious backcountry athletes who never compromise. Development of each product is pursued in concert with a select team of athletes and no product decisions are made without clear go-ahead from the team.

Based in Munich Germany with North American Headquarters in Boulder Colorado, Dynafit arrives on top first with the biggest smiles, with plenty of power left for the ultimate ride down. The highest mountains and most extreme conditions require both the lightest and most bomber gear in the world – no compromises. That is why Dynafit invests in the world’s top athletes, designs, and technology.
