(Carbondale, Colo.) Outdoor Divas presents Everest and Beyond, March 12th, an inspirational evening with speaker and 2006 Everest summiteer Tonya Riggs. The event features a slideshow and motivational presentation from Riggs with stories of successful mountaineering summits, first ascents, and news of the upcoming Dare to Dream expedition. The event will help raise awareness for ovarian cancer and the HERA Women’s Cancer Foundation.
Riggs says, “This evening is dedicated to inspiring women to live life to the fullest and to improve awareness of ovarian cancer through a multi-media presentation of my adventures climbing the world’s highest peaks.â€
The night kicks off at 8pm, at the Outdoor Divas Boulder location. “Part of our mission is to inspire, educate, and outfit women to live happy and healthy lives,†says Marily MacDonald, Outdoor Divas Marketing Coordinator, “[and] we feel HERA is an exceptional organization that we are proud to support.†The event is free to the public and participants receive raffle tickets at the door for a drawing to win prizes.
“Everyone has an Everest to climb,†says Riggs, “whether it be summiting a mountain peak or overcoming a debilitating disease.â€
The presentation features the Dare to Dream expedition, to take place fall 2008. The expedition celebrates the 30th anniversary of the first all-woman summit, lead by Arlene Blum. Partnering with the HERA Foundation, the expedition will bring international ovarian cancer awareness.
Teal is the official color of ovarian cancer and to honor this, the event will feature a special teal appeal. The more teal you wear to the event, the more tickets you’ll receive to win prizes.
