EXPED doubles backpack offering for 2014

Exped’s pack styles will double for the 2014 season. This broadening of the line includes completely new styles as well as established designs that have been available only in Europe until now. Exped packs are organized into three categories – storm, alpine, and backcountry – covering a range of users from bike commuters and paddlers to long distance backpackers and alpinists.

Introduced in Europe in 2008, the Mountain Pro series (Mountain Pro 20, 30, and 50) was designed in cooperation with mountain guides over many years, resulting in mountaineering packs refined to the basics and now available in the USA. Completely new designs include the Glissade 25 and 35 – ski touring packs, Core 25 and 35 – bombproof cragging packs, and the Torrent 20 – waterproof roll-top all-rounder. These packs extend the existing line, which includes the waterproof Cloudburst and Torrent groups, Mountain Lite series, and the award winning and extremely popular Lightning 45 and 60.

“With the addition of these packs we get to deliver our less-is-more design philosophy to an exciting category – hey, we’ve always been pack geeks!” said Kaj Bune, director of marketing for Exped in the USA. “Skiers, alpinists, rock climbers, hikers, backpackers, paddlers – these folks know Exped as a brand that delivers comfort in camp. Our packs extend the comfort zone to when they are on the move as well. A pack is an important companion on nearly any adventure and the little details make the difference – and Exped is all about the details!”
