Portland, OR – January 11, 2011 – When it snows, KEEN wants to enable outdoor enthusiasts around the world to embrace the cold, take a snow day and explore nature’s frozen playground. The Portland-based leader in hybrid outdoor performance footwear, bags and socks has taken that mission to heart and expanded its collection of winter footwear for 2011 making it possible for KEEN fans to play in the outdoors no matter how low the mercury plummets.
This season KEEN asked the question, “Can a winter boot be warmer without being bulkier?†To answer the question, KEEN is introducing patent-pending KEEN.WARM Heat Trapolater which sandwiches three layers of heat-trapping materials under the foot to hold warm air in. This innovative technology, when combined with KEEN.WARM, provides 360 degrees of lofted insulation and works a lot like the insulation in the attic space of a house.
“The winter weather forecast should never limit our outdoor fun,†said KEEN Vice President of Product, Kelly Wallrich. “Our design team has worked hard to create a collection that allows you to get outside and play even in the coldest of temperatures. We like to think of the KEEN.WARM Heat Trapolater as a simple solution for cold feet!â€
The Brighton series offers women a trio of frosty weather footwear choices. Brighton High Boot steps into winter in high mountain style. Chic details—including an exposed faux-fur lining and contrasting top-stitching—stand out, while 200g KEEN.WARM insulation and KEEN.DRY waterproof membrane keep warmth in. The Brighton Low Boot combines flattering details with proven winter insulation. Ideal for around town or après ski, the Brighton Low Boot’s 200g KEEN.WARM insulation and faux-fur lining keep feet feeling warm and looking hot. The Brighton Slip On with faux-fur lining and step-in ease steps up the comfort factor, while waterproof leather and KEEN.DRY membrane keep snow, slush and wet weather out.
Equipped with the KEEN.WARM Trapolater underfoot insulation and 200g of KEEN.WARM insulation, the Helena Boot stokes serious warmth with a softer side. The thick, faux-fur lined cuff contributes to the cozy feel. And the beautiful nubuck leather upper is lined with a KEEN.DRY waterproof membrane, perfect for any snowbound adventure.
KEEN didn’t leave the men and kids out in the cold for the FW11 season with these new ready-for-winter designs.
New to the men’s and women’s line, the Revel provides a hat-trick of features: traction, warmth and breathability, thanks to Hybrid.ology performance technologies. It’s the first boot with true underfoot insulation combining KEEN.WARM Trapolater technology with 200g KEEN.WARM insulation and a siped ice-traction outsole for unmatched performance in winter weather.
In the kids’ collection, the warm, waterproof and rugged Breckenridge boots were built to keep kids feet happy and warm for hours of snow play. This weatherproof and insulated boot features 200g of KEEN.WARM and a waterproof and breathable membrane for all-day comfort even in winter’s worst.
