Kathy Swantko, FabricLink Network founder, explains how this networking event benefits both attendees and manufactures. “This will be our third Mixer and it is gaining momentum among suppliers and designers. I am so pleased to see more cohesion developing in the textile industry. With the great support from Outdoor Retailer, having this Happy Hour Mixer in the Design Center has been a long-term goal. There is no better time than now to pull together as an industry, exchange ideas, and make new contacts to benefit your business and the outdoor community as a whole!â€
Swantko and the FabricLink Network have been actively involved with Outdoor Retailer in organizing the Design Center and Project OR for several seasons. The Design Center is a focal point for the OR Show. It provides supplier exhibitors an opportunity to present their latest fabric innovations to designers, product developers, and show attendees. The Center also helps to inspire new product ideas by making it easy for visitors to find new fabrics and to make connections with the suppliers that develop them.
As Academic Liaison for Project OR, Swantko and her FabricLink Network team select the five design schools that provide the Project OR student contestants for the design competition at each Outdoor Retailer Market. She works closely with Outdoor Retailer in the initial communication with the participating schools.
Outdoor Retailer sees the value of having the FabricLink Network as a partner for Project OR and the Design Center. The FabricLink Network’s connection with OR supplier exhibitors and textile/design schools have been invaluable.
“Swantko’s close association and expertise in textile sourcing and the design schools have been a true asset to the development and concept behind Project OR,†comments Outdoor Retailer Show Director, Kenji Haroutunian.
The Textile Community Networking Happy Hour seeks to further this cooperation. Swantko and her team have been a fundamental component to the overall success of Project OR event and the value built into the Design Center.
