Mt. Airy, North Carolina — For Spring 2017, Farm to Feet, makers of 100% American socks, is introducing a collection of hiking socks that celebrates its home state’s premier hiking trail, the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, which stretches from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks. Sales from the collection will help support the completion and maintenance of the trail.

“2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, and we’re proud to support the trail that not only stretches across our state, but passes within 15 miles of our mill where we make our socks,” said David Petri, VP of marketing at Farm to Feet.

The Farm to Feet Mountains-to-Sea Trail collection includes six styles whose designs are inspired by sections of the trail. The socks construction is based off the Damascus Elite hiking sock, but with trail inspired graphics on the sock leg. Each sock is made with 19.5 micron US wool and features reinforced heal and toe sections, under lacing protection and a seamless toe closure.

The Mountains-to-Sea Trail begins at Clingmans Dome, which reaches 6,643 feet high and is the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The men’s Clingmans Dome sunset design is inspired by the last light that sets on the trail. MSRP: $22.50

The Elkin Valley section of the trail covers over 60 miles and drops more than
2,000 feet in elevation in six miles as it transitions from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Piedmont. The Elkin Valley sock, offered in men’s and women’s styles, honors the elevation change with a design featuring abstract topographical contours. MSRP: $22.50

The Sauratown section of the trail, that immediately follows the Elkin Valley section, connects Pilot Mountain State Park to Hanging Rock State Park and is the section closest to Mt. Airy, Farm to Feet’s hometown. The men’s Sauratown sock’s striated design was inspired by the sediments that created the Sauratown geologic formations in the area including the unmistakable Pilot Mountain. MSRP: $22.50

The Hillsborough’s green floral burst design is inspired by the area’s lush flora and fauna fed by the Eno river that the trail follows into the center of this historic town. MSRP: $22.50

The Burgaw is named for a small community that grew from a railroad depot established in the 1830’s in the coastal plain just outside of Wilmington. This women’s sock features a retro-floral camo design that reflects the colors of the Burgaw creek in spring time. MSRP: $22.50

First light hits the trail at Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks and is the inspiration for the women’s Ocracoke. The colorful bands radiate from from the ankle towards the calf like an early morning sunrise. MSRP: $22.50
