For the second year in a row, the EPIC Foundation has chosen First Descents, a Denver-based non-profit providing free adventure therapy to young adults fighting and surviving cancer, as the beneficiary of the all funds raised at the party. This year, the 8th Annual 80’s Ski Party is set for October 21st at the Mile High Station in Denver, Colorado. Each year, this ski season kick-off party brings out skiers from across the country in their finest in 1980’s fashion to raise funds for a worthy cause.

Last year, the 80’s Ski Party raised more than $30,000 for First Descents, sponsoring one week-long program for 10 young adults fighting and surviving cancer.

What: 8th Annual 80’s Ski Party
Where: Mile High Station at 2027 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, CO
When: Friday October 21, 2011 – 8pm-2am
Cost: $45 in advance — $50 at the door

“We’re so honored to be working with the EPIC Foundation again this year on the 80’s Ski Party. Events like this have helped First Descents raise the funds to triple our number of programs in the last year,” says First Descents Communications and Events Manager Rebekah Koenigbauer. “Last year we had about 700 party-goers, we’re hoping to get as many neon one-piece ski suits together as possible this year.”

“First Descents was a natural choice as the beneficiary of this year’s party. The EPIC Foundation is all about inspiring people to reach their physical and intellectual challenges and First Descents shares that mission,” says Brad Rettig of the EPIC Foundation. “What better way to raise money for a great organization, than to break out your hot pink spandex race suit and dance all night to tubular tunes!”

Featuring 80’s arena rock favorites, musical entertainment will be provided by The Champions. Ticket purchase includes free beer and drink specials. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit www.80skiparty.com.

First Descents is a non-profit organization offering young adults with cancer a free week-long outdoor adventure experience designed to enable them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same. www.FirstDescents.org
