Fitness Industry and Retail Represented on Recently Elected SGMA Board

The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) has appointed four new board members. They are Doug Kelly, Mitchell Modell, Bob Puccini, and Robert Whip.

The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) has appointed four new board members. They are Doug Kelly (President – Russell Athletic), Mitchell Modell (CEO – Modell’s Sporting Goods), Bob Puccini (President – Mizuno USA), and Robert Whip (President – Horizon Fitness). All four will serve terms from 2007-2010.

Nine members of the board of directors have been reappointed. They are Jim Baugh (Founder – PE4life), Dan Bower (President – Century, Inc.), Bob Corliss (President/CEO – The Athlete’s Foot), Jim Davis (Chairman/CEO – New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc.), Steve Furniss (Executive Vice President – TYR Sport, Inc.), Kevin Lamar (President/CEO – LAMAR Health, Fitness, & Sports, LLC), Wayne Merck (CEO – K2, Inc.), Kevin Plank (CEO – Under Armour Performance Apparel), and Tom Rogge (President/CEO – Cramer Products, Inc.). All nine of those board members will serve terms from 2007-2009.

The current chairman (Tom Rogge) and vice-chairman (Steve Furniss) of the board were re-appointed.

The directors are elected for a term of up to three years and are eligible for re-election. The chairman and vice chairman are elected annually. The Board of Directors appoints the President/CEO and the Secretary-Treasurer.

These board members were elected to their positions during the SGMA’s 2007 Annual General Membership meeting on Thursday, February 15 at SGMA’s offices in Washington, D.C.
