FlapJacked Protein Pancakes Kickstart Their Launch with SMACK! Media as Marketing and Public Relations Partner


July 23rd, 2013 (Broomfield, CO) – FlapJacked, a Colorado-based company that recently launched a simple and nutritious protein pancake mix, has selected SMACK! Media as their marketing consulting and public relations agency, effective July 15, 2013. The partnership comes together as FlapJacked prepares to expand into retailers regionally and soon after, nationwide. Only having been on the market since March 2013 via online purchase, the all-natural line of pancakes that boasts only 200 calories per serving and 15-17 grams of protein, has piqued the interest of grocery retailers, from Krogers to Whole Foods. The launch of FlapJacked into retail distribution will allow them to expand their reach not only within the sports and outdoor industry, but also to general health, fitness and wellness communities. 

Fitness and nutrition have always been at the forefront for FlapJacked Founders and parents of five children, Jennifer and David Bacon. “We not only love our active lifestyle, but we also love to eat!” said Jennifer Bacon.“ We look forward to the weekend mornings of pancakes but are never sustained and always feel that sugar “carb crash” an hour later. We have also been frustrated with not finding easy, healthy and nutritionally balanced meal options for our morning rush. Through trial and error, we have developed a healthy ‘just add water’ protein pancake mix that uses whole grain ingredients, is lower in carbohydrates, high in protein, has a significant amount of fiber, tastes fantastic and one that will sustains us through our next meal!”

 Alongside being an active mother of five and entrepreneur, Jennifer has a rich brand building background that shines through in the eye-catching FlapJacked packaging. She was once a Senior Design Director at P&G Brands, where she worked on Pampers® and Kandoo® and most recently, led the global design strategy for Kotex®, Poise® and Depend® brands at Kimberly-Clark. Her work on U by Kotex earned a Platinum Pentaward, and was named one of “America’s Hottest Brands” by Advertising Age and awarded Product of the Year voted by 60,000 consumers.

This past weekend, FlapJacked exhibited at their first event to the public, the 3rd Annual Fitness on the Rocks Mass Workout and Expo, which featured over 10,000 participants. “We were thrilled with the response that our healthy and easy pancake mix received from the fitness audience,” said David Bacon. “We had heard positive things about SMACK!
