Fleet Feet Sports Announces Opening of New Location in California

Carrboro, N.C. – Fleet Feet Sports, the retail leader in building and supporting thriving local running communities, announces that husband-and-wife Kerri and Vinny Marchionni will open a new Fleet Feet Sports location in Laguna Niguel, Calif., on July 21. The store is located in the Ocean Ranch Village shopping center at 32341 Golden Lantern Street.
“Our brand started 40 years ago in Sacramento, so California has and continues to be a passionate place for the brand and for the sport of running in general, “says Jeff Phillips, CEO and president of Fleet Feet Sports. “Kerri and Vinny have already made an impact in Laguna Niguel with their local entrenchment, outreach, and involvement in the community, and I only expect that to deepen as the store opens.”
Kerri Marchionni, a yoga instructor in Laguna Niguel for the past two years, spent the three years prior to that as an employee of Fleet Feet Sports in Raleigh. Vinny Marchionni is active in the local running community, and also works as a plant manager at Baxter Healthcare in Irvine.
“What I experienced in Raleigh has inspired me to this day, and we are excited to bring the Fleet Feet Sports philosophy here and build and support a community around running,” says Kerri Marchionni. “Health and fitness is a way of life in Laguna Niguel, and with our staff’s passion and expertise in products, the fit process, and running programs, we will help a wide range of customers find fit in different aspects of their life.”
The store will launch its first running programs in mid-August, offering both a beginner 5K and 10K program. A weekly fun run currently leaves from the store every Saturday morning at 7 a.m., and all levels of participants are encouraged to join. The Marchionnis also have plans to begin Yoga classes in the store every other Sunday.
With the addition of the Laguna Niguel location, Fleet Feet Sports now has a total of five locations in southern California: Encino, Westlake Village, Burbank, and Rancho Cucamonga. Additionally, a San Diego location will open in September with a separate franchise owner in place.
