WESTWOOD, MASS. (JUNE 2021) – XTRATUF, inspired by the rugged and always-evolving needs of the Alaskan fishing community, introduces more sustainable alternatives to two of its core line styles, the Ankle Deck Boot ECO and the Sharkbyte ECO for Spring ‘22. Additional developments launching for its upcoming collection include the Ankle Deck Boot Sport with a high-performance, lightweight foam outsole, a Legacy Chelsea boot in saltwater resistant leather, and the Auna sandal with a proprietary TUFgrp outsole.

The Ankle Deck Boot ECO features Yulex® Foam, the world’s first plant-based alternative for XTRATUF’s standard neoprene product. Building on the heritage of its Ankle Deck Boot, crafted specifically for sport and recreational fishermen, the new Ankle Deck Boot ECO will continue to offer a lightweight silhouette, XTRATUF’s SRA-rated non-marking and slip-resistant outsole, along with 100 percent waterproof protection. With Yulex natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea Tree, the Ankle Deck Boot ECO will be equally durable, flexible and comfortable as the original Ankle Deck Boot.
Another eco-friendlier update from XTRATUF for Spring ’22 is the Sharkbyte ECO, featuring ECONYL® fiber. ECONYL® is 100 percent regenerated nylon fiber made from fishnets and other nylon waste and will be used for an all-new upper in the popular deck shoes. Other design elements of the original Sharkbyte will remain the same – lightweight and versatile enough to wear on and off the boat, a rear pull tab for easy pull on and reinforced leather panel at the heel for easy off, as well as XTRATUF’s tried and true non-marking, slip-resistant chevron outsole.
XTRATUF’s Ankle Deck Boot Sport has a sport fishing-specific silhouette designed to help sport fishermen feel safe, comfortable and confident on the water. The outsole features XTRATUF’s PRO LITE, a new high-performance foam that is ultra durable and slip resistant. The one-piece outsole enables the Ankle Deck Boot Sport to be 30 percent lighter than many other 6” boots in the category. While delivering the comfort and agility of a sneaker with long cushion life and high energy return, the Ankle Deck Boot Sport offers XTRATUF’s renowned SRC-rated, non-marking slip resistance protection.
The Legacy Leather Chelsea is a versatile boot for any season, weather or occasion with Alaska-proven XTRATUF performance when needed. The leather version of the beloved Legacy boot is crafted of saltwater-resistant leather that will wear to a fine patina over time. A lightweight silhouette in three colors for men, the Legacy Leather Chelsea features the same XTRATUF non-marking, slip-resistant Chevron outsole as its rubber counterparts, along with 100 percent waterproof protection.
The Auna sandal is an innovative take on what a sandal could and should be for the fishing community. Incorporating a high-rebound PU footbed, along with an abrasion-resistant forefoot strap, the Auna is built to be supportive and comfortable for long days on the water or land. The new sandal features XTRATUF’s revolutionary, patent-pending TUFgrp outsole design constructed from a specially-formulated rubber compound. TUFgrp is independently verified SRC rated and delivers ultimate grip on both flat surfaces, as well as wet and uneven terrain.
