Formula4Media Presents The Green Event Conference and Expo – Offering Real-World Supply Chain Solutions
New York, New York â€“ Aug. 28, 2008 â€“ Formula4Media, publishers of Textile Insight and producers of The Running Event, will host a two-day conference addressing the challenges and opportunities that arise when implementing â€œgreenâ€ or environmental practices and initiatives in the global business landscape.
The Green Event Conference and Expo will take place on Thursday and Friday, September 18th â€“ 19th at the Millennium Broadway Hotel and Hudson Theatre in New York City. The goal of the event is to serve as an educational resource and networking opportunity for companies working to understand the importance of eco-efficiencies throughout the sourcing and supply chain and will provide businesses an opportunity to share ideas to develop, design and produce for an eco-conscious world.
As environmental and societal issues heat up, companies both large and small are jumping on the â€œgreenâ€ bandwagon, even though many may not understand the vast implications of such claims. As a result, benchmarks are currently being established to monitor how such strategies are being implemented and marketed to the end-use consumer. Not only are companies faced with more competition than ever before, but the information era also makes business practices more susceptible to scrutiny from the end-use consumer. False and exaggerated statements on this front can spell disaster for otherwise successful companies.
The Green Event will not only identify the major trends and challenges present in the marketplace but also how companies can excel through environmentally-minded business plans and sustainable strategies, providing case studies and a panel discussion offering tactical solutions to address this complex new business issue.
Panelists and speakers include: Andrew Winston author of â€œGreen to Goldâ€ and founder, Eco-Strategies; Ian Yolles, co-founder, Nau, Inc and former executive with Nike and Patagonia; David Mayer de Rothschild (Adventure Ecology); Janice Podoll Frankle, Attorney with the Federal Trade Commission; and Kristin Carpenter-Ogden of Verde PR & Consulting to name a few.
In addition, there will be an exhibit hall featuring the â€œGreen Way,â€ which will include an educational photo and product presentation of green products in action highlighting supply chain initiatives from raw materials to end-use products. Attendees will meet green vendors, and learn about green materials and certifications in place to design and source green products. Some exhibitors include industry leaders such as Dupont Sorona, Lenzing Modal, Repreve, Rodale and Tencel. Lastly, event coordinators are working with local composting and recycling contractors to make the event zero waste.
