CALGARY, ALBERTA–(April 15, 2008) – The Forzani Group Ltd. (TSX:FGL):
The media has reported today that Health Canada is poised to render its report regarding Bisphenol-A (“BPA”) and the safety of BPA when used in plastic products including water bottles. To date, Health Canada has taken the position that products containing BPA pose no health risk to users. However, early indications as reported in the media regarding the imminent report suggest that Health Canada may, in its report, change its characterization of BPA to a dangerous substance.
Although the official report on BPA from Health Canada is not expected to be released until May, in the interest of customer health and safety, the Company has elected to immediately pull all water bottles containing BPA from its shelves and to replace these products with BPA-free hydration alternatives.
The Company will accept returns of bottles containing BPA purchased at its stores in accordance with its return policy.
