Four Corners School of Outdoor Education announces a Ground Breaking Celebration for its Canyon Country Discovery Center Campus!
July 21, Monticello, UT: Four Corners School of Outdoor Education invites one and all to its Ground Breaking Celebration for its new campus – the Canyon Country Discovery Center! This public event marks the beginning of a community-driven initiative culminating in a state-of-the-art facility featuring a Visitor Center, Staff offices, conference room, kitchen, classroom and lab, and more. Four Corners School of Outdoor Education looks forward to celebrating with you.
Providing a “point of entry” into Monticello, UT, at the heart of the famous Colorado Plateau, the Canyon Country Discovery Center will bring visitors, employment opportunities, and attention to our community and to the mission of the Four Corners School to create lifelong learning experiences about the Colorado Plateau bioregion for people of all ages and backgrounds through education, service, adventure, and conservation programs. Completion of the Discovery Center is scheduled for late 2014.
Four Corners School and our partners conducted more than 10 years of planning prior to this proud occasion, including community focus groups, a marketing study, business plan, and programming plans. The result of these efforts will be a Canyon Country Discovery Center that Colorado Plateau natives and visitors can all be proud of!

Parking/Shuttles
Shuttles to the site will leave from the Monticello Visitor Center (232 S Main St), starting at 4:30 p.m. On-site parking will not be available.
Schedule
Remarks (tentatively) will be from 5-6pm by: Bill Boyle (San Juan School District), Doug Allen (Monticello Mayor), Bruce Adams (San Juan County Commission Chair), David Hinkins (Utah State Senator District 2), Steve Trimble (Author, Telluride to Tuba City: Making a Home on the Colorado Plateau)
Family Activities from 6-7pm will be Sari Tales (by Sari Ross), Solar Watching (with Pamela Moen), and Ute Stories and Flute Playing (by Aldean Ketchum).
