Fox River emphasizes commitment to sustainability by naming Chief Environmental Officer

In a nod to its ongoing commitment to earth-friendly operations, Fox River Mills, a leading sock manufacturer based in Osage, Iowa and an international model for green companies (www.foxsox.com), has named Becky Lessard Chief Environmental Officer. Lessard has been with Fox River since 1982 and was most recently vice president of finance & administration.

For the past 20 years, Lessard has led the sustainability team at Fox River. This title formally acknowledges the importance Fox River places on the company’s responsibility to the environment.

“Becky is the perfect person for this job. She has the experience and the unwavering dedication,” says Fox River Branded Division President Joel Anderson. “Becky began working with noted Iowa conservationist Wes Birdsall in 1984 to initiate energy-reducing programs at Fox River. Since that time, she has been the driving force behind Fox River’s mission to recycle virtually everything we use, source environmentally-friendly products used throughout our mill, and implement significant water and energy conservation systems at Fox River.”

In addition, Fox River has just introduced its Good Earth collection that combines its organic merino socks and socks made from 100% biodegradable corn, www.foxsox.com. Fox River is also a member of One Percent for the Planet, donating 1% of sales on its Good Earth collection to organizations dedicated to protecting the environment.
