1% For The Planet

Fox River has become one of the newest US firms to join 1% For The Planet (1% or 1%FTP), an alliance of companies committed to leveraging their resources to create a healthier planet.
1% For The Planet was launched in 2001 by Yvon Chouinard, environmental activist and founder of outdoor clothing company Patagonia, Inc., and Craig Matthews, owner of Blue Ribbon Flies. Members donate at least 1% of their annual sales to environmental organizations worldwide. The alliance aims to prove that taking environmental responsibility is good for business.
Nearly 400 companies have already joined 1% For The Planet, whose members have generated more than $10 million in contributions to environmental causes to date.
Executive Director of 1% For The Planet, Terry Kellogg, said: â€œWe’re thrilled to welcome Fox River to the rapidly expanding 1% member ranks. Fox River’s overall business philosophy is a wonderful fit with our program and we hope many more progressive companies choose to join in their wake.â€
Indeed, responsible innovation is what Fox River is all about. In addition to its industry-leading environmental programs in manufacturing and recycling, the company will launch a new Good Earth Collection that combines its organic merino socks and socks made from 100% biodegradable corn under the Good Earth name at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market Show this August. Fox River will donate 1% of sales on this collection as part of 1% FTP.
Fox River’s Good Earth collection made in styles to fit men and women will feature new colors and designs and utilizes the company’s proprietary organic shrink processâ€”which is so safe you could drink it. Fox River’s organic merino socks are made with certified organic merino wool. Their bio-fiber socks are made from corn, or more precisely from Ingeoâ„¢ fiber derived from corn, a 100% annually renewable resource.
