After a strong re-entry into North America, Garmont®, a full service subsidiary of Garmont International S.R.L. in Montebelluna, Italy, debuts its Fall 2016 collection of premium alpine boots and shoes all featuring the Brand’s boot building legacy Anatomically Directed Design (a.d.d.). Compelling new footwear designs are rooted in high altitude performance and this heritage influences other category products including approach, backpacking, hiking, and a new category “trail sport.” Garmont will be at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market Show debuting its collections of outdoor performance footwear at booth 32144.
“As a full-time, year-round American Mountain Guide, proper footwear is crucial,” said Garmont Adventurer and AMGA/IFMGA Mountain Guide Jediah Porter. “Except when I’m skiing or steep rock climbing, the whole range of Garmont footwear offers me the best tool for the next peak, route, or move. The construction is immaculate, and the various products are tailored to specific applications.”
Anatomically Directed Design (a.d.d.)starts by looking at the anatomy of the foot to determine the best design for superior performance. With precise shaping, utilization of the best materials and how the different materials act together, Garmont’s designs harmonize all these considerations to enhance the user’s fit and experience. Elements of a.d.d.include: more room for the first metatarsal enhancing balance; an asymmetrical lace closure system allowing the foot to flex naturally; a lateral tongue post that places more padding on the outside to keep the heel in the pocket; plus asymmetrical heel cuffs and ankle pockets for a more custom fit.
In Trail Sport, Garmont introduces the 9.81 Trail Pro II Lowand Mid Gore-Tex®. The 9.81 Trail Pro II Low is a versatile, lightweight low-cut boot designed for fast mountain pursuits. The 9.81 Trail Pro II Mid Gore-Tex® is designed for faster, subalpine hikes. Both feature Anatomically Directed Design, precisely sculpted for performance and fit and a mesh upper for breathability. Gore-Tex lining keeps feet dry and the Garmont Hypergrip® outsole keeps adventurers secure in difficult terrain.
In fast and light hiking, Garmont evolves the popular vegan-friendly Nagevi. This model is a vented design with a microfiber and nylon mesh upper for breathability. A heel wrapping compression molded EVA midsole provides impressive stability and an exclusive Vibram® outsole features a dual density MegaGrip® compound with exceptional grip. This multi-sport shoe is suited for a variety of activities from mountain to urban environments.
For hiking, the new Trail Beast series adds four all leather models. The Trail Beast Plus GTX is available in a low and mid-cut design for both men and women. Developed for the outdoor adventurer looking for the stability of a boot in a low cut, agile and lightweight shoe, the Trail Beast Plus Low GTX is ideal for day hiking and adventure travel. The Trail Beast Plus Mid Gore-Tex is for the outdoor enthusiast who appreciates the ankle protection offered by a mid-cut design. All Trail Beast models feature a heel wrapping compression molded EVA midsole and an exclusive Vibram® outsole with dual density MegaGrip® compound.
