Gear Aid™, the trusted repair and maintenance brand for outdoor gear, continues its initiative of getting kids outside with a substantial product donation to Adventure 16’s Donate-a-Pack Foundation. The Donate-A-Pack Foundation exists to benefit at-risk, low income, or disabled youth by enabling them to partake in an outdoor wilderness experience. By gifting backpacks and other wilderness equipment, the Foundation believes it can enhance the ability of young people to enjoy the outdoors, learn outdoor skills and deepen their personal awareness of human impact on the natural environment.
“Partnering with Donate-a-Pack was a perfect fit in keeping with our ‘Take a Kid Outside’ initiative,” said Cheriss Faiola, brand marketing director at Gear Aid. “The ‘Take a Kid Outside’ initiative is a regional program aimed at getting underprivileged children outfitted for outdoor activities like hiking, camping, backpacking and fishing.”
According to Donate-a-Pack, about 85 percent of donated gear is used equipment and many times there are repairs and/or a good washing needed. To help extend the life of this donated equipment, Gear Aid has gifted repair patches, seam sealers, repair adhesives, tent pole splints, odor eliminators and specialized cleaners and water repellents from its ReviveX line-up.
“Nothing ruins an outdoor experience quicker than broken gear,” said John D. Mead, president of Adventure 16. “We can now count on Gear Aid to help make repairs and clean up equipment before it goes out. Our recipients will get a nice and helpful surprise when they open their boxes and see that we’re doing something special to help with extending the life of their gear.”

About Donate-a-Pack
The Donate-A-Pack Foundation is a 501(c)(3)non-profit corporation founded by Adventure 16. The Foundation seeks to benefit grade through high school aged children in Southern California by enabling them to have a meaningful wilderness experience. The Foundation focuses its resources on seeking out and channeling donated backpacks and other gear to non-profit organizations with programs for disadvantaged youth. Our ultimate goal is to help young people learn outdoor skills and foster an appreciation for the natural environment, all the while understanding that such exposure helps develop responsible, healthy, confident and enlightened adults who, in turn, will pass on their meaningful experiences and good values to the next generation.
