Giordana Launches Extensive Fall/Winter '16-'17 Cycling Apparel Collection Featuring Technologies from eVent® fabrics

Overland Park, Kansas, USA and Charlotte, North Carolina, USA—Winter is just around the corner, and Giordana (www.giordanacycling.com) and eVent® fabrics (www.eventfabrics.com) are pleased to announce the launch of Giordana’s extensive collection of cycling apparel featuring several technologies from eVent. The thirteen styles in the collection highlight eVent’s unmatched air permeable ePTFE membrane technology in both windproof and waterproof jackets that help regulate core body temperature to optimize performance and comfort. Giordana’s new 2016/17 Winter collection—entirely made in its own factory in Italy—will be available starting September 2016.

Giordana is using three distinct products from eVent fabrics, and all feature eVent’s patented Direct Venting™ (DV) membrane technology, which has, at its foundation, an ePTFE (expanded polytetraflouroethylene) membrane that is air permeable. Air permeable membranes have an open pore structure that allows heat and body moisture to pass through the membrane quickly and easily in vapor form, which prevents the accumulation of moisture inside the jacket. This highly breathable technology helps keep core temperature and humidity in a steady state and in balance during athletic exertion.

Fabrics made with DValpine membrane technology are 100 percent waterproof and also windproof. Developed from the original and award-winning product introduced by eVent fabrics in 1999, DValpine is designed for 3-layer laminated fabrics used for a wide range of products including outerwear. DValpine has proven to keep outdoor enthusiasts dry and comfortable in the most demanding conditions.

Windproof membrane technologies used by Giordana include DVstretch and DVwind. Both provide high breathability and critical protection from the wind required by cyclists. Additionally, these membrane technologies are water resistant.

With the ability to stretch up to 85% and fully recover, DVstretch laminates provide the ideal balance of wind proofing, water resistance, breathability and stretch comfort. Introduced specifically to meet the form-fitting apparel needs of the cycling and athletic markets, DVstretch has unprecedented stretch and recovery of laminated fabrics made with air permeable ePTFE membranes. These laminates are offered exclusively through eVent fabrics.

DVwind deflects more than 99% of the wind. With its high air permeability and moisture vapor transfer rate, DVwind helps cyclist maintain a steady core temperature while providing water resistance and protection from the wind.

A+V Extreme Winter Jacket with eVent DValpine Waterproof Technology
From Giordana’s new Acqua+Vento™ collection, the A+V Extreme Winter Jacket for men ($500) and women ($475) provides the ultimate in warmth and protection from the elements for cyclists who train intensely through the winter months, in any weather. Made of three independent layers, the A+V Extreme is designed for comfort in extreme cold and inclement weather and during high intensity training where maximum breathability is essential. The external shell uses a 3-layer fabric with eVent® DV Alpine, the proven 100% waterproof and windproof membrane featuring eVent’s Direct Venting™ technology. Additionally, a Polartec® Alpha 60 insulating mid layer provides superior heat retention and moisture management while the innermost layer helps wick moisture away from the body to the breathable outer layers. A+V 200 Short Sleeve Winter Jacket with eVent DVstretch Windproof Technology
The midweight A+V 200 Short Sleeve Jacket ($400) is ideal in milder winter conditions and cyclists who put in base miles and high intensity interval training. The fully windproof DWR-treated DVstretch fabric provides heat retention, moisture management plus water resistance. This aerodynamic jacket uses a light weight DVstretch fabric and membrane throughout the garment. A printed fleece lining offers warmth, and its excellent elasticity gives it a non-constricting performance fit. Signature Acqua+Vento features include the high collar, long reflective ducktail and pockets.

Men’s and Women’s Vero Winter Jacket with eVent DVwind Windproof Technology
The Vero Winter Jacket ($280) is fully windproof and water-resistant jacket for the rider who cycles throughout the winter with limited intense efforts. It offers warmth at lower exertion levels, so it is ideally suited for riders needing warmth balanced with the ventilation that prevents overheating and moisture buildup. The Vero features eVent DVwind triple layer, DWR-treated fabric and a micro-fleece lining. The Vero’s slightly roomier fit is ideal for layering.
