SEATTLE, WA – GoLite® relaunched last year with powerful humanitarian and environmental initiatives and an earth-friendly activewear collection laser focused on sustainability. GoAid, was born from the inspiration to go beyond just making great products and integrate humanitarian initiatives directly into the business model. In collaboration with national relief organization, Medical Teams International, GoLite recently supported their Guatemala project with the donation of uniforms for field staff and on-site support and materials to build life-saving water systems in remote communities. GoLite efforts in Guatemala follow their 2018 donation of 14,000 uniforms to Medical Teams International staff caring for one million refugees throughout Uganda.

Over half of Guatemala’s population lives in poverty. Women and children bear the brunt of the suffering. Medical Teams International helps to improve health in rural Guatemalan communities by building latrines, water systems and by educating and implementing sanitation practices to help off-set illness. While these interventions may be basic, they are life-saving – especially for families with children under the age of two. The GoLite team helped build numerous systems including latrines and sinks and covered a portion of the building material costs. In addition, GoLite donated uniforms to all of the Medical Teams field staff working in Guatemala.

“With the GoLite shirts our Medical Teams International Guatemala staff not only feel comfortable and professional, we are even more proud doing the work in the remote, rural communities of Guatemala, in support of the most vulnerable families,” says Enrique Fernandez, Medical Teams International Regional Program Manager, Guatemala.
