(TORONTO) July 17, 2007 – As authentic as it was five decades ago, Metro Sportswear Ltd., the Canadian manufacturer/brand owner of Canada Goose outerwear and accessories for extreme cold climates, remains true to its origins today by manufacturing its complete line of Canada Goose outerwear in Canada. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, Canada Goose presents “Made-In-Canada†a private event to unveil the new Goose People book and celebrate the company’s 50th birthday with a bang! The high profile, invite-only, celebration takes place on Saturday, September 8, 2007 in Toronto and includes an exclusive performance by Juno award-winning recording artist Chantal Kreviazuk.

“As Canada Goose enters its second half-century, we know that our future success will rely on how faithful we remain to our core values and beliefs,†explains Dani Reiss, CEO of Canada Goose and grandson of Metro Sportswear Ltd. founder Sam Tick. “As we evolve and develop new products and new lines, much of our inspiration will come from the values represented by our Goose People, the ones whose stories are contained in the pages of our book, and the countless more from all around the world. We will be led by their authenticity and integrity.â€
As one of the few remaining Canadian producers of down-filled clothing, Canada Goose recognizes the importance of manufacturing cold-weather wear on Canadian ground, close to its customers in the far north, and has no plans to move its production lines off-shore. Moreover, with the demand for socially responsible products on the rise, the union-made in Canada product line continues to surge ahead. For the second consecutive year, Canada Goose (Metro Sportswear Ltd.) ranked on the PROFIT Next 100 listing of Canada’s fastest-growing companies, published online and in the June 2007 issue of PROFIT.
Currently sold in over 30 countries, featured onscreen in many major movies, and worn worldwide by “Anyone Who Knows”, Canada Goose has garnered an international reputation for the warmest, toughest and very best down-filled parkas on the planet. Canada Goose outfits the American National Science Foundation in Antarctica, National Science Foundation division of Polar Research, Arctic Rangers, Canadian Special Military, the Canadian and U.S. Coast Guards and The Weather Network, as well as many celebrities.
