Beaver Creek, CO- After a record field for the 2011 event, the GORE-TEX™ TransRockies Run has opened online registration with good news…and bad.

The bad news? The first phase of early bird pricing is already full, with the first 100 registration spots selling out in less than three weeks. Registration remains open at Phase two early pricing, which is still a big discount off the full price entry, while space lasts. The good news: those interested in claiming one of the remaining spots can get a free DVD to see what they’re missing. Registration is on record pace, and while plenty of registration spots remain for now, the event is expecting its first full field this year. The event has capacity for 500 runners composed of 200 teams of two and 100 solo runners.

Aaron McConnell, TransRockies race director, said, “The number of return participants is a nice testament to how unique – and fun – the race is. And while we do have slightly larger fields every year under our permit, it’s probably a good idea for people who are interested to sign up earlier than they have in years past.”

The free DVD is available for first-time participants only and is available only by calling 866.373.3376.

Almost 360 runners completed last month’s race from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek, overcoming steep inclines, rough trails, and slippery descents. The charge was led by Open Men’s division winners Mike Smith and Jason Wolfe from Flagstaff, AZ who finished the six-stage race in a cumulative time of 14:57:23, almost an hour faster than the 2010 overall winner

The Open Mixed division was dominated by Team Salomon’s Anna Frost and Ricky Gates as they claimed the title in 17:07:37. The sister duo of Ashley and Lauren Arnold easily swept the Open Women’s division in a total time of 18:46:20, while Nikki Kimball and Tracy Garneau (Team North Face Betties) swept all six stages in the 80+ women’s division and took the title in 19:20:06. Joel St. Louis and Christian Vashon won the 80+ Men’s division title in 19:09:02 and the married duo of Katie and Jeff Caba won the 80+ Mixed division with a time of 18:32:42.

Official Results for each stage and the overall standings can be found on the TransRockies website http://transrockies.com/transrockiesrun/Stage6-2011TRRGC-Final.pdf
