WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (January 18, 2007) – Gramicci, an original outdoor apparel brand celebrating its 25th year in business, is announcing the winner of its Craziest Adventure Photo Contest. Gramicci launched the contest last fall through an advertising campaign and its website, www.gramicci.com, asking Gramicci fans to send in their craziest, most unbelievable adventure photo. The winning photo is from Deena and Eli Whitman of Norway. The Whitmans will receive a $2,000 Gramicci wardrobe, and their photo will be featured in Gramicci’s next print ad in Rock and Ice magazine.
Gramicci employees judged the contest, based on what they thought was the coolest photo, taking into consideration how the photo portrayed a sense of adventure. The winning image was taken on September 9, 2006, at Kjeragbolten in Norway.
According to Eli, “The adventure was difficult; about three hours of steep hiking. Fixed chains assisted us as we struggled to the plateau where the walk became easier. Finally we arrived at the Kjeragbolten (pronounced She-Rog-Bolt-In). The Kjeragbolten is a large rock wedged firmly into the cliffs above the fjord. Deena precariously maneuvered her way across the small ledge that was less than a foot wide to stand onto the Kjeragbolten, 3,000 vertical meters above the deck.â€
