Westlake Village, Calif. – Beginning today art lovers and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world can start bidding on an original work by Kansas City artist John Lawrence Raux.

Inspired by a love of nature, Raux’s painting titled Moving Mountains captures the essence of the great outdoors using vivid colors and a wildlife theme. Commissioned by Gramicci, a 22 year veteran of the outdoor apparel industry, all proceeds from the winning bid will be donated to the Pacific Crest Trail Association (PCTA) to help preserve the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.

Completed in 1993, the trail zigzags for over 2,600 miles from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington. In its entirety, the trail allows visitors the opportunity to experience six of the seven North American ecozones. Liz Bergeron, Executive Director of PCTA, is thrilled about auction, “the money raised will be used for trail maintenance projects which are primarily completed by volunteers.”

Raux is also pleased that his artistic efforts will benefit such an important cause, “I am inspired by nature and anything I can do to create dialog within the community is great.” Raux is passionate about using art to encourage people to find nature so joining forces with Gramicci to benefit PCTA was a natural fit. “Gramicci is committed to helping conserve our nation’s trails and what better way to show our support than by donating the proceeds from such an inspiring work of art” said Gramicci President Marty Weening.

For more information about the artist or PCTA please visit: www.johnraux.com and www.pcta.org.

The auction will run for ten days on eBay and closes Thursday June 15, 2006 at 5PM PST.
