Gramicci Named to List of ‘Apparel’s’ Top 50 Innovators
AGOURA HILLS, Calif. (5/19/08) â€“Gramicci was named to Apparel Magazine’s inaugural list of the industry’s Top 50 Innovators for its sustainable and organic clothing line, the Greenicci Collection.
Introduced in 2006, the Greenicci Collection is an all-sustainable product made up of either Hemp, Certified Organic Cotton or recycled materials, or blends of each. Now accounting for approximately 35 percent of the company’s sales, the comprehensive, moderately priced line includes items for men and women, such as polos, shorts, T-shirts, skirts and pants.

Beyond the Greenicci line, Apparel’s editors pointed to the fact that that about four-fifths of the Agoura Hills-based company’s packaging and hangtags are made of Green Seal-certified recycled, chlorine-free papers, printed with soy ink, as well corporate business practices which stress a commitment to the environment. Among the many initiatives in place at its offices is a mandate that all business reports and presentations are produced paper-free, which reduced internal paper use by 70 percent.
Apparel Magazine’s Top 50 Innovators salutes key forward-thinking firms shaping the industry and profiles their leadership, resourcefulness, reliance on cutting edge technologies and the unique business partnerships and strategies that have contributed to their success. The companies named to the list were nominated by apparel companies themselves and by vendors to the industry. More than 100 nominations were received.
Among the companies joining Gramicci on Apparel’s list of the Top 50 Innovators were Abercrombie & Fitch, Adidas, BCBG Max Azria, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Perry Ellis International, Quiksilver, Rocawear, and Under Armour.
