Granite Gear Grounds Keepers

After a successful inaugural year, Granite Gear’s Grounds Keepers program is excited to announce that it is now accepting applications for 2018. The program is implementing some changes in 2018 as it expands its roster size to 25 hikers and pushes towards a more diverse team and also allows for more flexible hiking commitments in order to make the biggest impact.

In 2017, over 1000 pounds of trash was removed from the Pacific Crest Trail, Appalachian Trail, Pacific Northwest Trail, Arizona Trail, Colorado Trail, Florida Scenic Trail and Superior Hiking Trail thanks to the Grounds Keepers. Since trash is most prevalent on section hikes, popular local trails and in community parks, the program will now allow team members to commit to hiking and cleaning up either a long trail or 300-miles worth of various forms of public lands.

Another aim for the 2018 program is to add more diversity to the team. Celebrating that the outdoors is for everyone, Granite Gear’s Grounds Keepers team will strive to represent all enthusiasts of the outdoors – regardless of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability.

“It’s about respect – for our planet and for one another. Our passions lie in protecting and cleaning up our public lands and promoting diversity and inclusion in the great outdoors,” Rob Coughlin, VP of Sales and Marketing said. “We hope to form a Grounds Keepers team of 25 diverse individuals who share our values and can effectively tell their stories in order to inspire thousands to better respect each other and our planet.”

The application will be open from December 1st to December 15th. The team will be selected and announced in late January. Those interested in being a Grounds Keeper in 2018 should read requirements and apply here: http://bit.ly/GK2018
