Granite Gear, the 32 year old, privately-owned backpack manufacturer on The North Shore of Lake Superior, announces the resignation of their Senior Director of Design & Development, Mike Meyer. After five years with the company, Meyer is moving on to become Director of Design at the largest outdoor backpack manufacturer in the outdoor industry.
“I’m confident that Granite Gear’s long history of high-quality backpack and stuff sack design will continue to grow and improve throughout the coming years,” said Mike Meyer. “The Granite Gear team is fully dedicated to providing the highest quality of products and customer service to their growing number of engaged consumers. I’ve learned a tremendous amount during my time with the brand and I look forward to continuing to design in the outdoor industry.”
Meyer came to Granite Gear via Under Armour in 2011. During his time with the brand, Meyer contributed to numerous backpack and sack designs. “Mike has been a leader on many successful backpack designs at Granite Gear, while also supporting and conducting various other roles in the company,” said Granite Gear VP Rob Coughlin. “While I’m sad to see him go, I’m very proud of the work we’ve done as a team over the past five years. We’re looking forward to the next chapter of backpack design for Granite Gear while remaining true to our production of high-quality and high-functioning backpacks.”
Coughlin and team will lead the design program while Granite Gear searches for their next Director of Design. Interested candidates can send resumes, cover letters and portfolios to Rob Coughlin at rob@granitegear.com.
