Granite Gear Debuts Crown2 38 Backpack Following the Successful Crown2 60

The new Crown2 38 from Granite Gear answers the call for a smaller multi-day backpack that adjusts to fit the needs of day hikers to experienced thru-hikers. A smaller version of the highly-coveted and very successful Crown2 60, the 38 liter backpack preserves all the design features of its counterpart and weighs just 2.1 lbs.

“With the tremendous amount of support for the Crown2, we continue to strive to fulfill the ongoing needs of our customers,” says Michael Meyer, Sr. Director of Design & Development at Granite Gear. “The Crown2 38 further addresses the needs of day hikers, section hikers, and very experienced thru-hikers alike. Similar to our 60-liter version, the pack’s front and side multi-compression straps allow the capacity to be reduced roughly 20-liters when needed. This is a versatile capacity range from 38-liters down to 18-liters.”

The Crown2 38 boasts an updated version of Granite Gear’s patent-pending, fully customizable RE-FIT hip belt. RE-FIT technology allows for a fully customizable fit anywhere in the backcountry. The Crown2 38 also features a fixed torso length for 18-21 inch torsos.

The Vapor-Current Mark 2 suspension system features a compression molded polypropylene frame sheet. This new system works in combination with the molded foam back panel, ventilation channels and durable laminated mesh to assist in airflow of heat and moisture, without shifting the pack’s center of gravity away from your back. The frame sheet can also be removed when carrying lighter loads, for further weight reduction to 1.6 pounds.

• 10mm webbing side and front compression straps

• Stretch mesh front pocket and tool loops

• Fabrics: 100d high-tenacity nylon with Barrier DWR 210d high-tenacity ripstop nylon with Barrier DWR

The Crown2 38 weighs 2 lbs. 1 oz. without lid, and has a volume of 38 liters. MSRP: $184.95.
