ASHEVILLE, NC – May 11, 2007 – The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, a group of independent outdoor shops dedicated to the sustainability of the specialty outdoor channel and the quality of the outdoor enthusiast’s experience, unveils its new “dual†web portal.
The new web presence includes the Alliance’s blog and a website portal. The Alliance chose to have a dual web presence to encourage daily interaction.
“We want to give our 32 member stores and their staff a reason to check back to the site every day,†said Grassroots director president Dave Matz, “I think one of the best and easily accessible sources of info on the outdoors comes from local retailers, their staff and their customers.
“The blog gives us a platform to highlight special places, cool new gear or the best coffee shop in town.â€
Addresses for each:
Blog – http://www.grassrootsoutdoors.com/
Main website – http://www.grassrootsoutdoor.com/home.php
The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance blog offers the industry’s first shop-generated reviews section of gear, events and local trails recommendations. Also featured on the blog are shop highlights and conservation event descriptions, and shop-generated “Sweet Spot lists†for visiting outdoor enthusiasts.
The Alliance’s website offers a broader information outlet for the Alliance. Its focus is on advocacy for independent specialty outdoor retailers, highlights of member’s grassroots environmental efforts, tools for members, and links to all member websites.
