Asheville, NC- The Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, the leader in independent outdoor retail, has named Ed McAlister to the Board of Directors. McAlister is the owner of River Sports Outfitters based in Knoxville, TN. River Sports has a been a member of Grassroots since 2004, and he brings a solid entrepreneurial and adventure background to the impressive Board.
As the Owner of River Sports, McAlister is responsible for vendor relations, product purchasing and fulfillment. He is an active outdoorsman and was one of the first people to brave the Grand Canyon in an open boat. McAlister has lead and participated in many paddling trips in the northwest territory, Costa Rica, and the western US. In addition has organized and participated in multiple trips to Rainer, Grand Tetons, and Hut to Hut XC Skiing. He is also a 5 time Iron man Triathlete. McAlister has over 20 years of experience in the outdoor clothing and equipment retail/mail-order industry. He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering with a minor in Finance from the University of Tennessee.
